The rise of regenerative organic coffee (ROC)
Regenerative organic coffee (ROC) farming goes beyond sustainability, aiming to restore and enhance ecosystem health while producing high-quality coffee[5]. This approach improves soil health, increases biodiversity, and helps mitigate climate change impacts on coffee production[1][2].
Europe's first regenerative organic certified® coffee
We’re proud to announce the launch of Perkee ROC™ coffee, the first Regenerative Organic Certified® coffee in Europe. This milestone reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and ethical sourcing.
Benefits for your workplace
- Superior Taste: ROC™ practices enhance coffee quality and flavour profiles
- Environmental Leadership: demonstrates your company's commitment to sustainability
- Employee satisfaction: offer a coffee that aligns with your employee’s values
- Long-term sustainability: support farming practices that ensure future coffee supplies
The ROC difference
Research indicates that the impacts of climate change could cut the areas where arabica coffee grows in half by 2050. That means, in less than three decades, your daily cup of coffee and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers worldwide are in serious jeopardy. [3]
The most effective step we can take to secure the future of coffee is to encourage the use of regenerative organic farming methods.
The Regenerative Organic Certification® encompasses the ethos of many sustainable certifications such as Organic, Biodynamic and Fairtrade with its three main pillars: soil health, animal welfare and social fairness.
Our ROC Journey
Perkee ROC™ coffee comes via direct trade from Fazenda Camocim in Brasil. Bella Barista (our ROC™coffee roaster) have worked with Henrique Sloper since 2015 arranging logistics and transport directly without third party intervention.
Camocim estate has been growing coffee without the use of pesticides or fungicides since 1996 and achieved its first organic accreditation in 1999. In 2023 they made their first steps to be ROC™ certified, and in June 2024 they officially received their certification.Their progressive take on farming has allowed indigenous animals such as the Jacu Bird (which is currently a protected animal in Brazil, due to the high rise in deforestation and chemical farming) to migrate back to the land to graze, which has helped increase numbers of this once endangered bird
