Marie Phalippou appointed as head of wine
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Marie Phalippou to the newly created role of head of wine.
Marie will oversee our wine programme and support key initiatives related to wine education, sourcing, and client engagement.
Training and support
In her new role, Marie will work with the culinary team to provide wine pairings that complement BM’s hospitality menus. She will also host annual wine meetings aimed at improving the team’s knowledge and understanding of wines.
The role will involve collaborating with suppliers Ellis Wines and Tom Gilbey to manage BM’s preferred wine list, ensuring the selection reflects the company’s standards and client preferences. She will also organise the annual wine trip for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) cohort, offering participants the opportunity to expand their understanding of the wine industry with the support of BM’s suppliers.
Seasonal wine club
Additionally, Marie will work with wine expert Tom Gilbey and managing director Angus Brydon to organise the ‘seasonal wine club’, which will include client events throughout the year where clients will have the opportunity to explore the wine list in a structured format.
Extensive experience
Marie has extensive restaurant and wine experience, having worked in establishments in France, New Zealand and Australia, and holds a WSET Level 3.
Marie will contribute regular blog posts on wine, offering insights and updates around key annual events. She will also take responsibility for sourcing and proposing non-alcoholic wine alternatives for all levels of the business.
She will continue her current role, working alongside her colleagues as deputy hospitality manager at a central London law firm, a role she has held for more than two years
