Sinclair Le Geyt
Birchall Tea
Part of the Birchall family business, Sinclair has been selling its teas since 2007. But the company dates back much further – to 1872, when Birchall Graham first planted tea in Darjeeling.
Now specialising in East African black tea, Birchall creates superior blends using only the very best tea leaves. Every week in Mombasa, Kenya, its tea-tasting experts try as many as 5,000 teas, usually selecting just five of them for Birchall blends. Not surprisingly, since 2011, Birchall has won 86 Great Taste Awards and its Great Rift Breakfast Blend has won awards 12 years in a row – more than any other breakfast tea in the world.
Birchall believes a cup of tea should not only taste good, but be good for the planet too. As well as producing Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certified teas, it has opened a new solar-powered factory, where all its tea is carbon neutral. Also, the business has worked extremely hard to make sure its products are free from plastic, and made from plant-based materials where possible.
