Tom is an experienced wine expert and showman with an unrivalled background in wine. His exceptional blend of passion, humour and knowledge make him a much sought-after host at BM’s wine events.
Tom’s family, Gilbeys, was the first English family to buy a chateau in Bordeaux (Chateau Loudenne, in 1875) and went on to become the most prominent wine and spirits merchant in the UK, selling one in every three bottles of wine consumed. The firm also developed a range of famous spirits, including Smirnoff vodka and J&B whisky, as well as Gilbeys Gin.
Tom has been both a winemaker and wine importer, and as an advisor and supplier, he has worked with chefs such as Rick Stein and Tommy Banks. He loves to bring the subject of wine to life and make it fun, and is a regular contributor to many publications, including Country & Town House magazine.
